Register now to attend a fascinating one day practical workshop with Artist and Printmaker, Sybille Schlumbom.

Sybille is an expert in the area of Japanese Woodcut Printmaking, called Mokuhanga.

Japanese woodcut differs from European woodcut in three particular ways:
- The application of the water based inks by brush
- The use of a hand held baren for printing
- The use of kento registration marks, carved directly into the block

Sybille will demonstrate the technique of Mokuhanga and guide you through the process of carving your own Mokuhanga block, from which you will ink up and make prints on Japanese washi paper to take home.

This workshop is aimed at adult beginners as well as artists, printmakers, book lovers and teachers.

Cost: $85 which includes a woodblock, paper and the use of carving tools and other printing equipment. A fee of $25 per person for further materials is payable to the tutor on the day (bring cash!). This includes a Shina woodblock (the best type for Mokuhanga beginners), the use of Sybille’s carving tools and equipment, and further japanese paper supplies.
