The Annual Mt Victoria Treasure Hunt is coming up soon and we welcome you to join us to celebrate Mt Victoria.

This will be our 5th Treasure Hunt and this event is part of Neighbours Day Aotearoa – we’re celebrating it a little later as there are so many other events on in the previous weeks. Plus we want to wind down summer with a happy occasion.

The date for the Treasure Hunt is Sunday 7th April, from 2 pm (registering at the Hub 24 Elizabeth Street), finishing with a sausage sizzle, music and spot prizes at Innermost Gardens from 3.30pm, winding up about 4.30pm. Our theme for this year’s event is “Kia Ora Neighbour” – nice and simple and encouraging people to say Kia Ora to each other every day, to be inclusive, welcoming and inviting.

For those of you who have never participated before here is a quick rundown of what to expect:
– A location is marked on a map with an accompanying clue – this is handed out when registering at the start of the Treasure Hunt (at The Hub.)
– Individuals or groups make their way around each (or some depending on ability and accessibility) of the locations.
– At each station, you partake in a little activity – this can vary from listening to an interesting fact about a place, making something or colouring in a picture.
– You then receive a stamp or sticker on their map to say they have visited that location.
– The final Station is at Innermost Gardens where we will finish the day with the aforementioned sausage sizzle and music.

By welcoming locals in through our doors and into our neighbourhood we bring our wider community together and bring greater awareness to all the amazing things going on our doorstep. It is also a great opportunity for people to meet neighbours, make new friends, and build a stronger community together.

We encourage you to pop into your neighbours and invite them along, I think now more than ever we need good friends and neighbours.
