Keith Murdoch was a story that would not go away and needed to be written. Speculation and exaggeration had characterised the Murdoch story and it was time an attempt was made to establish more clearly what led to his being evicted from the All Blacks’ tour of the northern hemisphere in 1972. But more than that, it was necessary to paint a fuller picture of Murdoch and his times – to understand not just him, but rugby and its importance to two small countries, New Zealand and Wales.
This is an event involved in the Featherston Booktown Festival on Friday 10th, Saturday 11th & Sunday 12th May celebrating everything to do with books, writers and reading. The three-day programme includes writing workshops; poetry readings; talks by leading authors and illustrators; and a book fair including stalls with rare and second-hand books. There are also events specifically for children.
