Film and Discussion with Celia Hogan.

Ideal for ECE teachers, primary school teachers and parents interested in getting children out into nature.

Winner of seven international awards with incredible cinematography, NaturePlay – Take Childhood Back, explores the concept of education through play in nature (Udeskole). NaturePlay is an inspiring look at the Scandinavian method of udeskole, which is practised through forest kindergartens, after-school clubs, nature-based play areas, adventure playgrounds and through increased break time at school.

Following the film, Celia Hogan, founder of Little Kiwis Nature Play will lead a discussion on the relevance of this film to New Zealand, challenging educational philosophies and policies and emphasising the importance of nature play on a child's holistic development.

This workshop is presented by Celia Hogan
As a facilitator of outdoor and nature-based learning, Celia inspires ECE and primary teachers to look beyond the day-to-day challenges and find outdoor learning opportunities where kids can blossom. Celia originally studied outdoor recreation and adult education. For the past 20 years, she has worked for a variety of outdoor education organisations internationally, setting up, developing and running outdoor programmes, wilderness expeditions, leadership development programmes and establishing risk management and safety systems. Now with two wild preschoolers herself, she wants to share her passion for getting children outdoors and into nature.
