Archduke Piano Trio no 7 in B -flat opus 97.

“The Archduke” Piano Trio; the last and greatest of Beethoven’s seven piano trios was dedicated to his friend and the most generous of his patrons the Archduke Rudolf of Austria. The Archduke was the instigator of a generous annual allowance to free Beethoven from financial pressures, for the rest of his life, on condition that he lived in Vienna.

When the other donors dropped out (one became bankrupt and fled from Vienna, one died after falling off his horse) the Archduke unhesitatingly made up the deficit. This may have some bearing on the open hearted warmth and beauty which permeate the whole work.

Proudly supported by Nelson Pine Industries.

Series passes are available at $100 (+ service fee) per term.

Cash and eftpos available for door sales at Nelson Centre of Musical Arts from 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday and one hour prior to the scheduled performance time.

Please contact Nelson Centre of Musical Arts if you require wheelchair seating on 03 548 9477 or music@ncma.nz.
