The Rubbish Trip and the Island Waste Collective invites you to head down to the Waiheke Sustainability Centre to kick off Auckland Anniversary Weekend with a seriously fun, zero waste, music fundraiser for The Waiheke Community Housing Trust
Bring your dancing shoes for a live jazz, funk, folk musical extravaganza, brought to you by No-Waste Nomads and The Silver Beats.
This seven-piece band will be performing a motley mix of toe-tapping tunes about vegetables and eco conscious living, and some rambunctious Southern Italian folk riffing on the themes of cross-cultural connection and the pains of unrequited love.
To delight your senses, partake in zero waste nibbles and some homemade thirst-quenchers, prepared for you by The Rubbish Trip.
Visit the cash bar for a glass or two of some locally-made alcoholic beverages, brought to you by award-winning winery Jurassic Ridge Winery (served by the winemaker and viticulturist himself) and Waiheke Island Brewery, Waiheke's oldest craft brewery, who'll be putting on a special brew for the occasion.
All profits raised from ticket entry and drinks sales will go towards The Waiheke Community Housing Trust, a local housing project creating affordable, thoughtful, rental housing on the island.
All food and drink will use locally-sourced, unpackaged ingredients and products, made available with minimal or no waste. Jurassic Ridge will be returning all empty wine bottles to the winery for sterilisation and refill. Waiheke Island Brewery will be providing their beer on tap, to eliminate the need for bottles.
So come and join us for a joyful night that embraces local products and a great, local cause, without creating waste.
*Tickets are $20 presale (available in person from Waiheke Sustainability Centre and Jurassic Ridge Winery, 144 Church Bay Road, 11am-6pm, Wed-Sun) or $25 on the door. Cash sales only. Ticket price covers entry to the event and food. Cash bar for drinks.
