Let’s talk about how we can individually respond to the seemingly insurmountable problems of the global climate emergency. What can we actually do in reaction to this crisis?

To coincide with the launch of their new circular fashion collection of upcycled jackets at Gus Fisher Gallery, NopeSisters will be hosting a panel talk on climate emergency. This event is part of The Slipping Away exhibition public programme.

Four wahine toa, led by Johanna Cosgrove of NopeSisters with dedicated environmentalists Green Party MP Chloë Swarbrick, Shelley Butt, Programme Manager at Sustainable Coastlines and Amanda Chapman, Activist, Waste-Minimiser and Tiny House Builder - will discuss what we can possibly do in the face of the climate change crisis?

Sustainable fashion will be for sale - sharing 50% of profits with our charity partners Sustainable Coastlines and Sexual Abuse HELP.

The Slipping Away brings together pivotal works by leading artists to explore the duality of oceans and humankind. Conceived as an immersive experience, The Slipping Away will take visitors on a journey above and below the ocean through filmic interpretations of the deep sea and light-based installations of the water from above.

Acknowledging the ocean as a living breathing entity, we will forge important discussions on the health of our seas and enable discourse on the personhood of Moana. We aim to prompt pertinent conversations about sustainability, plastic pollution and rising sea levels at a point of criticality in 2019.

Doors open from 6.00pm, panel starts at 7.00pm. Beer courtesy of Panhead and kombucha courtesy of Good Buzz.
