Is butter really back? What is a plant-based diet? And what the heck is bulletproof coffee? We’ll decode the science around basic nutrition concepts and help you decide which information we hear is credible and science-based, and which is fake.
Whether on TV, in a newspaper, or on your Facebook feed – diet and health information is bound to appear. We’ll explore nutrients including carbs, protein and fat, as well as vitamins and minerals, and will also examine popular diets to determine which are valid and which are simply marketing.
By the end of the course, you’ll be able to:
- Confidently describe the role of macronutrients (carbohydrates, proteins and fats)
- Understand which foods are good to eat more often, and which we should eat in moderation
- Identify which diets are evidence-based and which are simply fads
- Create a healthy meal pattern that is accurate for your age, gender, and activity level
