The 39th annual New Zealand Association for the Teaching of English (NZATE) conference is being hosted in Queenstown in beautiful Central Otago.
We welcome a number of notable keynote speakers from within the education sector and beyond. These include Dr Wesley Imms, attending from Melbourne University, the project lead for the Innovative Learning Environments and Teacher Change project (sponsored by Education Perfect).
We also welcome: Toby Manhire, editor of The Spinoff; Dr Cathy Wylie from NZCER, a national authority on Tomorrow's Schools; plus a panel of NZ's favourite writers in discussion with Laura Borrowdale. We will also hear from one of NZ's leading voices on visual and graphic arts, Dylan Horrocks. There will be five break-out workshop sessions over three days.
We will have the opportunity to hear the latest news on the NCEA Review from Rob Mill from the Ministry of Education.
The conference dinner will take place at Walter Peak, commencing after a lake cruise on the historic Earnslaw - wrap up warm to enjoy drinks and a boogie on this original steamer.
The event takes place in Queenstown's new innovative learning environment, Wakatipu High School.
