Celebrate NZ Dance Week in at the Toi Pōneke Arts Centre. Whether you’re a dance aficionado, like to shake it at weddings and family gatherings, or have never even set foot in a dance studio; this programme of free dance/movement workshops has something for all ages and abilities.

Head to Toi Pōneke and get a taste of an eclectic mix of dance forms - from breaking to ballet, ballet to jazz, jazz to circus + more! This is an excellent opportunity to learn a few new steps and perhaps discover your newest passion.

You may register for one or all of the workshops, but please note spaces are limited.

The Schedule:
10-11AM Lyrical Dance with Holly Newsome
Ages 10+ Beginners
Holly from Leaping Lizards School of Dance will teach a beautiful Lyrical routine to suit children aged 10 years and upwards. No experience necessary.

11:30AM-12:30PM Ballet with Loughlan Prior
Ages 12+ Int/Adv Experience
Join dancer and choreographer, Loughlan Prior, in this fun workshop where he will teach you some of his own ballet vocabulary and creative techniques.

1-2PM Contemporary/Breaking with Ravenhill Arts
Ages 16+ Beginners
Learn some of the contemporary / breaking choreography from our new performance piece What If?. We’ll also explore some physical theatre and contact improvisation. A little sweaty, a lot of fun!

2:30-3:30PM Adults Jazz with Zoe Cain
Ages 16+ Beginners
Zoe from Spiritus Dance Company will teach an easy to follow, fun, sassy, Jazz routine. Designed for adult dance

4-5PM Kids Circus with Sophia O'Conner
Ages 6+ Beginners
This class for kids will cover juggling and hula hoop. It is an opportunity to learn coordination and new skills while building confidence.
