Join us for the 11th year of collecting coins and cans for Dunedin's busiest foodbank.

In winter time many Otago families and people experience a gap between what they can afford and what they need. Others are trying to pay off their bills and find there’s suddenly a gap where the food money should be. Some people find themselves in a gap between houses – trying to find affordable rent or a place to stay. Octacan is here to fill that gap, and with your support we can help!

Help fill the gap by collecting and donating as many coins and cans as you can carry! Get your colleagues, friends and family involved and start collecting now. Bring your coins and cans to the Lower Octagon during Octacan on Thursday 20 June between 7.30am and 2.30pm and help us to Fill the Gap, and our foodbank. You can also support us online at $1 = 1 can.

Our Family Works’ foodbank is the busiest in Dunedin and during winter demand is even higher. The foodbank currently provides families with about 10,000 emergency food items each month, a figure that will increase as the weather gets colder.

If you can't make it to the Octagon on the day feel free to stop by the foodbank at 407 Moray place, next to First Church. Open 9-5 Monday to Friday. Phone: 03 477 7116.

I can, you can, we can, Octacan!
