Join this small group Discovery Day Trip from Kapiti to Palmerston North. It is timed to enjoy the spectacular cherry tree blossoms that Palmerston North is renowned for in Spring (nature permitting!).

We'll have morning tea among the beautiful blossoms in the Victoria Esplanade Palmerston North.

A drive around Savage Crescent gives us a view of one of the finest examples of 1930's social housing in New Zealand. We'll also visit the grounds of the oldest surviving grand home in Palmerston North - Caccia Birch House, which was completed in 1892.

We'll have lunch at one of Welcome Tours favourite spots, the Hokowhitu Cafe, situated on the golf course by the Hokowhitu Lagoon.

In the afternoon we'll explore the new'ish suburb of Summerhill and take a trip down memory lane at Old Country Furniture Store and Antiques in Aokautere.

On the way home we'll stop in Ohau to meet artist Dave Bang at his home studio. Dave will chat to us about his pen and ink drawings and his paintings. Many of his artworks feature rural themes.

Pick up points: From 9am with return at approximately 4.30pm. There are various pick up points in Waikanae, Paraparaumu, and Paekakariki.

Drop off: at the same locations between 4.00 and 4.30pm.

Accessibility: The trips are taken in a comfortable 12-seater mini-bus which is not wheel-chair accessible. Assistance is offered for mounting and dismounting the vehicle. Walking frames can be safely stowed in transit. The antique store has uneven flooring and narrow passageways.

The price includes morning tea. Lunch is at guests' own expense (a range of cabinet and menu food is offered).
