Passing the Baton

In the Triratna Buddhist Community those people who have publicly expressed a desire to try putting Buddhism into practice, but not make the commitment of becoming an Order Member, are known as mitras.

At each centre there are order members, called mitra convenors, who make sure mitras are getting the support they need.

Akashagarbha has been the men’s mitra convenor for about 12 years and is now handing the role over to Achalamuni. This will take place during a sevenfold puja. But before that Akashagarbha will explain what the role entails and how it is a form of spiritual friendship with relevance to all of us.
