Plastic is a global problem. Everyone uses it, its in food wrappers, mobile phones, medical equipment, the list goes on. But its what happens to it when we’re done with it, that’s where the problems arise. Single-use plastics are at the forefront of this global threat, these are the types of plastic that are used once and then discarded, such as glad-wrap. So how can we fight this battle with one of the most commonly used materials?
Plastic Free July is a challenge to ‘Choose to Refuse’ single-use plastic throughout the month of July (and beyond!). We, at the Royal Albatross Centre, are getting behind the global movement and running events throughout July so you can get involved in making our world a cleaner environment for generations to come.
Support Plastic Free July with these activities!
- Pilots Beach Clean up and Litter Survey Workshop
- Plastic and Albatross treasure hunt
- Photo and Creative Writing competition with prizes for winners!!
During this time we are also running 30 minute Albatross Express tours for just $15, with proceeds going back into the conservation work here on the headland.
