Workshop: Portraiture with Kimbra Taylor
If you’ve dabbled with watercolour portraits but feel unsure about how to get the results you want, then this course is for you. Kimbra will show you how to paint a simple portrait and get the results you want by showing you how to address the issues!
- Achieve subtle lights, guaranteed mid tones and sumptuous darks that hold their depth.
- Layer flat tones and avoid ‘cauliflowers’ and streaks.
- Discover how the relationships of the abstract shapes support you to achieve a likeness.
- Use wet on wet and wet-on-dry techniques to create specific hard and soft edges.
What to bring:
- Size 4, 8 and 10 watercolour brushes.
- Pad of A3 300gsm watercolour paper or 3 sheets if you don’t have access to a pad.
- Paints; red, yellow, phthalo blue, burnt umber, raw sienna. If you have more paints bring them too.
- Paper towels, hand towel.
