One of New Zealand’s leading actresses, Jennifer Ward-Lealand CNZM will be making a special trip to UCOL’s Palmerston North Campus to speak about her journey as a Pākehā learning, embracing and promoting te reo Māori.
Jennifer has worked in the industry for over 35 years, excelling in both dramatic and comedic roles, as well as numerous roles in musical theatre and cabaret. She is currently president of Equity New Zealand and is a co-founder of one of New Zealand’s most prestigious acting schools; The Actors’ Program in Auckland.
She was made an ONZM in 2007 for services to theatre and the community and in the 2019 New Year’s Honours was made CNZM (Companion of the NZ Order of Merit) for services to theatre, film and television. In 2017 she was gifted the name Te Atamira (The Stage) by Sir Tīmoti Kāretu and Te Wharehuia Milroy.
