Join the Pukenui/Western Hills Forest Charitable Trust for an enchanting evening walk through Pukenui Forest.

Pukenui Forest was logged back in the 1920's. Its vigorous regeneration shows a remarkable case of nature resilience. Thanks to huge community effort the pest species are managed to very low numbers and native flora and fauna are thriving, including the North Island Brown Kiwi.

This is a rare opportunity to be guided by forest specialists and experience how the forest come alive when the sun goes down. You will hear about the flora and fauna, the history and the conservation works going on by the Trust.

This event is suitable for all ages and all fitness levels. We will meet at the carpark and the end of Amalin Drive. We will have hot drinks and bikkies available before the walk, then will be heading off into the forest.

Please bring warm clothes, and sturdy footwear, as well as a torch and some red celephane to cover the torch if it does not have a red light setting.

Please ensure that footwear is clean, as part of managing Kauri Dieback.

This event is part of Conservation Week 2019 - www.conservationweek.org.nz
