Apologies - this event has been canceled due to weather conditions and for the welfare of our horses and players.

The international sport of polo returns to Queenstown with the ‘The Shield’ tournament being held on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th, January 2019.

We are extremely excited to be partnering with New Zealand Sotheby’s International Realty (NZSIR) as our home-team sponsor for this event. The NZSIR Queenstown Polo Team will be competing against three visiting 6-8 goal teams featuring players from Singapore, Australia and New Zealand.

Queenstown Polo is considered one of the most picturesque polo clubs in New Zealand and is the perfect place to spend an afternoon eating and drinking in style, watching one of the world’s oldest and most dynamic team sports.

Located on Malaghans Road and just a 10-minute drive from central Queenstown, Queenstown Polo sits at the base of Coronet Peak with views over the polo field to The Remarkables.

This event is a boutique day out and, and with only 250 tickets available to the public, you need to organise your friends and family quickly to avoid disappointment. Polo is always a great excuse to get dressed up so come along and continue celebrating the New Year in style!

Each F&B Marquee ticket includes two gourmet BBQ food items from Queenstown’s professional outdoor caterers - In2Food, plus a beverage of your choice from Gibbston Valley Wines or Alpine Ale Works. Petit fours will be circulated by wait staff through the second half of the afternoon for a sweet treat end.

Each VIP ticket also includes a bottle of Gibbston Valley Non-Vintage Methode Traditionelle (valued at NZ$50) upon arrival - ensuring your afternoon gets off to an amazing start!

We are excited to announce that the Cadrona Distillery will be mixing their delicious, refreshing cocktails throughout each afternoon and into the evening for spectators (and players!) enjoyment, while Spanish beer Estrella returns as the international beer offering.

Please Note: The event is fully licensed so strictly no BYO or outside food. There will be a cash/EFTPOS bar and extra food available to purchase throughout both days of the event.
