Tom O’Connor talks to Jay Cassells about his career as a journalist, author, and political commentator.
Tom has published eight books many of them self-published. His books include Death of a Cruise Ship about the sinking of the Mikhail Lermontov, biographies of World War II soldiers Alfred (Bunty) Preece and Eric Batchelor, and three historical novels about Ngāti Toarangatira leader Te Rauparaha. His latest work, Irish Convict, is set in Australia and New Zealand before 1840 and is based on several true stories.
Tom is currently working on a book about the mosque attacks in Christchurch.
He is also a newspaper columnist whose writing about history and politics has appeared in the Waikato Times and the Taranaki Daily News.
