Race Relations Day is celebrated annually on 21st March, which also marks The International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. Every year the Race Relations Commissioner/Commission assists and leads to facilitate a theme in observance of this day around New Zealand.
Local students will be putting on a debate connecting with the theme:
Our people, our cultures, our languages
O tātou iwi, ō tātou ahurea, ō tātou reo
The Upper Hutt Multicultural Council acknowledges the significance of this day by sponsoring and hosting the Race Relations Day Inter-school Debate - join us as our rangatahi express their views on relevant and thought provoking topics.
