Restoration is the inaugural concert of The Queen's Closet, a new baroque chamber ensemble based in Wellington.
We are a unique mixed ensemble of period instruments (natural trumpets, cornetto, hoboys (baroque oboes), sackbut, strings, harpsichord and percussion). We will present a programme of more familiar and lesser-known baroque music, focussing on works from Restoration England.
Using the varied and opulent aural colours of The Queen’s Closet, we will showcase more familiar names such as Henry Purcell, Matthew Locke and Heinrich Biber, and lesser-known masters of the 17th century such as William Corbett, William Croft, Gottfried Finger, and Godfrey Keller.
