More than 25,000kg of plastic waste is littered in New Zealand each day - and each of us mismanages seven grams of it daily. That's just plastic... yikes.
Unfortunately, plastic never really 'breaks down' in fact it does the opposite and breaks up into thousands of tiny pieces that are often consumed by our already declining native wildlife. Plastic is also well known for leaching out chemicals that are dangerous to human health, as well as the environment.
Luckily, Kaipatiki Community Facilities Trust has invited The Clean Up Crew along to their families in parks day this March so that we, with your help, can rescue some of that waste before it becomes a hazard.
There's going to be lots of fun and games so join us for the afternoon and we'll spend a little bit of time making Rewi Alley Reserve a safer and cleaner place for our families and neighbours.
We will provide gloves and buckets, all we ask you to bring is a bottle of water and make sure you're wearing sunscreen and/or a hat - sun safety first! Please keep an eye in the event page for health and safety information coming soon.
