Bay of Plenty Symphonia presents the finals concert of this year’s Rising Stars Concerto Competition for secondary level students, conducted by Justus Rozemond.
Six talented young musicians from Bay of Plenty schools will perform a movement from their chosen concerto, accompanied by the orchestra.
The finalists and their chosen pieces are:
- Hayden Butt (Tauranga) - Weber Clarinet Concerto No 2
- Huang Yu Li (Tauranga) - Mozart Piano Concerto No 9
- James Robinson (Tauranga) - Arutiunian Trumpet Concerto
- Leo Read (Taneatua) - David Trombone Concertino
- Rosa Hook (Rotorua) - Mendelssohn Violin Concerto
- Sumin Sarah Lee (Tauranga) - Mozart Violin Concerto No 3
Their performances will be judged by a panel of prestigious judges, headed by Dr Peter Walls. While the panel deliberates, the orchestra will perform Janáček’s Adagio for Orchestra.
Winners will be announced and prizes will be presented by His Worship the Mayor of Tauranga, Greg Brownless.
