An amazing school holiday programme perfect for young Wellington singers and musicians. Lots of fun activities and workshops, learning cool modern pop and old school rock songs. In this holiday programme the pupils learn to write their own songs, helping to develop their confidence and creativity. The pupils are usually beaming by the end of the programme and we get lots of kids coming back. A holiday programme unique to Wellington, ideal for beginner pupils and more advanced pupils with a good spread of ages.

Week 1: Monday Sep 30th, Tuesday Oct 1st and Wednesday 2nd

Week 2: Wednesday Oct 9th, Thursday 10th and Friday 11th

Activities:

Learning new and exciting songs
The participants get to learn cool rock and pop songs both modern and old school. Playing and singing over the course of the holiday programme is like having six months or a year of lessons in three days. The improvements can be amazing. It's a very satisfying part of running the holiday programme, seeing the young musicians and singers move ahead leaps and bounds.

Kilbirnie's got talent
Pupils learn how to audition, introduce themselves, hold eye contact and perform a piece to the group. There is no pressure and it’s not compulsory. We try and help the shy kids come out of their skin and the more confident kids learn tricks to help them on stage and in life.

Busking trips
Great for building confidence in young musicians. We busk outside Unichem pharmacy where the group can make over $200 per day. It’s honest work and the deserve everything cent they receive as the good vibes they spread down Bay Road are priceless.

Beat time
Learn to play drums, beats, paradiddles and rudiments using everything except a drum kit.

Song writing workshops
This is a great way for the participants to experience and advance their song writing and open their creative channels. If they have never written before then we help to open the creative pathways and for the more advanced song writers we help them to structure and polish what they already have.

Singing lessons/exercises
Singing exercise's, warm up's and scales every morning. A great way for everyone to learn a little about singing. We encourage them to sing even if it is just to sing back up vocals in a future band.

Technique up skill sessions
Learning new riffs, licks, chords, tricks and techniques. These little workshops are great for showing tricks that really help speed up the learning curve of the young musicians.

Industry work shops
Learning what it means to be a successful musician however ambitious or unambitious that may be. We take the pupil through different senarios whether it be learning to jam with mate, record, gig or even if it just means playing for themselves. There is no right or wrong way to play music as long as they are enjoying themselves and music is adding something valuable to their life.

Location
St Patrick’s Parish Hall, 5 Rongotai Road Kilbirnie
