An exciting opportunity to learn basic animation principles with Lego! Guy Capper will be leading two workshops: The Beginners Animation Workshop 1, and the Advanced Animation Workshop 2. These workshops will allow you to gain next-level skills for animating for your own short film, YouTube video, school or art project.

Beginners Animation Workshop 1:
Time/Date: 2:30pm - 4:30pm, Saturday 25 May
Who is it for? Absolute beginners who have never animated lego before, and those who have just started learning.
What will I learn? You will learn a simple step-to-step method for stop-motion animation. You will work in small groups to create a set and plan for your movie, which you will then film and edit using iPads.

Advanced Animation Workshop 2:
Time/Date: 10:30am - 12:30pm, Sunday 26 May
Who is it for? This follows on from the beginners animation workshop, but anyone is welcome to attend.
What will I learn? You will develop more advanced stop-motion techniques such as making lego characters fly, and using green screen technology!

Will I need to bring anything? Bring along your iPad from home if you have one. Otherwise, iPads can be supplied to students who sign up.

If you are bringing an iPad, please download this free app:

Guy Capper has been creating animations for over 20 years. His skills as an animator range from short films to award-winning commercials (the Hedgehog Speed Safety campaign). He has had over 20 years experience teaching adults and Kiwi kids the joys of claymation as well as Lego animation.

Guy has a focus to get straight into doing animations that get great results within a few hours using iPad and stop-motion software.

Testimonial:

"My name is Tim and I came to your animation workshop a few months ago at Screenies in Auckland. Just to let you know that I made an animation film like you taught me and I got a prize in the Outlook For Someday Film Competition. It's called Stuart the Penguin and you can see it on Stuff under entertainment/film section. Thanks for teaching me."
