Join us to clean up East End beach and surrounding area! Look for our big flags down by the skatepark at East End beach.
It's Sea Week!
For this event we are collaborating with the Upcycle Taranaki Trashformers project, and Rethinking Plastic Revolution!!
Trashformers is a group of youth who are using old plastics to make something new. Come along and help us collect beach plastics to help our environment and help us gather material for this project.
They will be using HDPE #2 plastics to compare newer and degraded (beach clean up) plastics durability. Upcycle Taranaki
Rethinking Plastic Revolution is the amazing initiative by Lorella Doherty. She is aiming to pick up 10,000 cigarette butts over the course of Sea Week. WOWO! Check out her fundraising campaign here. https://www.pledgeme.co.nz/projects/5994-10-000-butts-in-10-days
What to bring: gloves and bucket. We have some gloves and bags available for you to use.
Also, If you have any #2 recycling at home bring it along for Trashformers to use. This might include bottle lids, shampoo bottles, detergent bottles, anything with the recycling symbol with 2 in the middle.
If the weather is heavy rain event will be postponed. Check this page for updates on the day if you are unsure. Hello NP Restore Taranaki Restore Fitzroy (Fitzroy Beach Conservation Group)
