Come down for a special schools programme for Seaweek. During Sea Week, classes will participate in a special 1hr session to learn about Auckland’s stormwater and waste water systems, what shouldn’t go down the drains, where the drains lead to and the effects of pollution and litter in our marine environments. Students will spend 20 minutes at the Tread Lightly Drain Game, 20
minutes with the Kelly Tarlton’s educator, then come back as a class in a facilitated session to discuss possible solutions and actions to make a difference.
This special programme is presented by SEA LIFE Kelly Tarlton’s and Tread Lightly and proudly supported by the Orakei Local Board. The Tread Lightly Drain Game is a bespoke built, mobile education trailer which teaches students that “only rain goes down the stormwater drain” and the importance of correct disposal of common items that can cause pollution in our creek and stormwater systems.
Bookings are essential for the special schools programme through the normal booking process. Sessions will run on the hour from 9:30am—with the last session at 2pm. Schools need to indicate at time of booking what day and session time they would like to book, year level of students and number of students in each class attending.
One free adult per 6 paying students. Additional adults will be charged and under 3s are free. If there is a free session, the Tread Lightly Drain Game will be available for visitors.
