These talks on Earnest Shackleton’s Imperial Transantarctic Expedition of 1914-1917 will cover the Weddell Sea Party – including the crushing of the ship Endurance in the ice through to the eventual rescue of men from Elephant Island.
Also included will be the lesser known story of the Expedition’s Ross Sea Party, including the loss of their ship Aurora and subsequent struggles to lay the planned supply depots out toward the South Pole.
John Rogers has an avid interest in Antarctica and is sometimes to be found giving talks on cruise ships as they head south.
