Petone's Artspace Gallery is proud to introduce Shane Prouting to Wellington art lovers in this, his first solo exhibition in the Wellington region.
Shane is a contemporary landscape and wildlife artist based in the township of Waihi, in the Waikato region of the North Island. After his family settled in Northland, Shane was inspired by the vivid coastal scenery and colourful bird life. He reacquainted himself with acrylic painting, learned oils and shortly thereafter began selling his work full time 2004.
Shane's paintings of New Zealand scenery are often recognized for their lush and beautiful design and strong graphic sense. Crisp and dynamic line work together with bold sweeps of colour, provide striking contrast elements in his paintings that draw the viewer in.
His work is featured in many collections throughout New Zealand, Australia, the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States.
