Dr Brigid Ryan from the Centre for Brain Research works with an Auckland family with 50/50 chance of dementia in their 40s and 50s. This spurs her search for earlier detection and treatment, and she hopes to help identify dementia years or decades before clinical diagnosis, making early intervention possible, and finding more effective treatments.

Dr Peter Freestone is a Research Fellow in the Dept. of Physiology. His research aims to deepen the understanding of what changes in the Parkinson’s brain and identify more effective therapies to improve the quality of life of those living with the disease.
