Join this one off course with University of Canterbury Associate Professor Roger Buckton. These sessions start from a beginner level and help singers pitch their voices to the notes of the scale and marry this up with a developing knowledge of music notation.
Simple songs evolve towards more complex choral pieces involving part-singing. The musical tools and techniques used are solfa and hand signs as advocated by the Hungarian composer and music educator, Zoltan Kodaly. Previous music reading experience is not necessary but members should have the ability to sing simple songs with pitch accuracy.
