Something Else Festival

Something Else is a multi-day electronic music and performance art festival, set among nature in secluded North Canterbury.

The festival will feature multi-genre DJs + live bands in several different zones.

With a focus on being playful and respectful, participants are encouraged to actively collaborate with us to build an incredible weekend with art, workshops, costumes and performance.

Setting the festival over multiple days allows us to create an immersive environment as this allows us to channel extra effort into building amazing spaces.

An alcohol and glass-free event with a focus on harm reduction, Something Else is also a leave-no-trace event - we are all individually responsible for taking home everything we bring with us!

Where
Something Else is set in a gorgeous natural valley with trees and a clean river, 1.5 hours north of Christchurch.

Intent & Culture
We invite you to party, play, create and connect.

Hear: A diverse range of electronic music (DJ’s + Bands) will be presented in full glory through Massive’s infamous sound systems.

See: Sculpture, Visual Art, Projection, Costumes, Lighting & other optical magic will be on display in the different zones of the festival - and you are welcome to take part.

Connect: We are lucky to have an incredible group of diverse and intentional people, brought together by music and art.

Feel: Festivals are about enjoying an experience outside of the normal. Something Else is a party. And we believe partying can be done safely without overindulgence.

Theme
Underwater World / Octopus’s Garden

Feel free to work with friends to dress to this years theme, or wear whatever you like. Dress-ups are not-compulsory, but highly, highly encouraged.

Rubbish
Something Else is leave-no-trace - we intend to hold this event annually, and to pay respect to the environment and the landowners, everything we bring we take with us. This includes all waste and recycling. Please keep this in mind when planning what you will bring with you.

Please note: Something Else is a Glass-Free event.

Harm Reduction
Violence, discrimination, sexual harassment etc will not be tolerated at this event. Something Else reserves the right to remove anyone exhibiting harmful behavior towards themselves or others from the event. We operate on the principle that we all look after each other - if you see something concerning please do not action the bystander effect - ask if everything is okay and if in doubt ask one of our security team.
