Thrive Promotions & Touring Presents:

Christchurch Sounds of the DUB featuring Knights of the DUB Table with Special Guest Leighton Fairlie.

We're bringing the Christchurch area a couple of great acts for one night only at the Lichfield Courtyard. Join us from 10 pm with some background music then once the clock hits 11 pm Leighton Fairlie will jump on stage. Leighton Fairlie is a loop artist who started out in Mount Maunganui and is now based in Auckland. This brand new project sees him mixing a range of dub, roots, hip hop, drum and bass and acoustic elements into a captivating and unique sound. In the last 12 months Leighton has opened for bands such as Knights of the DUB Table, ManaLion, Salmonella Dub, Summer Thieves, Katchafire, The Black Seeds and Strangely Arousing. These opportunities have fed his drive to create and perform.

Leighton’s project includes Brazilian, Fabiano Fava on the trumpet. His sound continues to develop and gain depth as he explores the untapped potential of New Zealand’s music industry.

Then, later on, that night Knights of the DUB Table will jump up for a massive 2-hour set.

People can expect a dynamic live journey with uplifting grooves, live dubs, featured guitar riffs and infectious sonic bass. Top this off with soulful 3part vocals and hip-hop inspired MC lines and you have ‘Knights of the Dub Table’.

Since their inception during 2008, they have performed alongside some of New Zealand’s best-known Reggae/Dub acts Katchafire, Tiki Taane, dDub, Rhombus, Cornerstone Roots, Opensouls, Optimus Gryme, Black Seeds, popular Australian Dub outfit The Versionaries and Groundation.

Hailing from Hamilton City the original three members Mr Samy'samson (vocals, guitar), Cy (bass), Sax’imus (MC, sax) first met in 2007 while studying music at the Waikato Institute of Technology. During 2008 they joined forces becoming Knights of the DUB Table and began to craft their sound into something unique.

In 2009, the Knights of the DUB Table went from strength to strength including supporting major acts at the hugely successful Tribal Pride Music Festival as well as Waikato University O-Week 09, playing Vilagrads Dance Parties, headlining their own gigs, and winning the 2009 York Street Band Experiments. They also released their 'Sing It To Me Remix EP' digitally through amplifier.co.nz.

2010 saw the Knights release the 'Tronic EP' containing four original Knights tracks and five bonus remixes from Tiki Taane, Optimus Gryme, AUM, Undertow and their very own Mr Samy'samson (distributed by Border Music).

“These guys have a great style and for me to be a part of their progression is an honour.” - Tiki Taane 2009
