Adventures in Photography and Life
World-renowned photographer Kim Westerskov presents a photographic adventure of his life, which takes us on a breath-taking journey of the oceans, their inhabitants and beyond. Kim will explore the importance of images in documenting our own lives while also exploring the ‘interesting’ relationship photography has always had with ‘the truth’.
He will present a selection of his finest work from a long and adventurous career, including his time swimming with whales and sharks in the tropics, photographing 'The Perfect Storm' and diving under the sea ice in Antarctica.
Kim Westerskov is a nature photographer, writer, and teacher. He has a PhD in Marine Sciences from the University of Otago and has written and photographically illustrated 18 books including 'The Seas Around New Zealand'. He is a five-time winner of the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition. This prestigious competition is regarded as the 'Olympics' or 'Oscars' of nature photography.
