Stationary Bike Challenge - The Tour to Nowhere

Palmerston North has yet another first – “the Tour to Nowhere”.

There’ll be plenty of fit (well mostly) young and not so young people ‘riding to nowhere’. That may sound a little strange at first, but when you consider they’ll be riding stationary bikes for almost 100kms, it makes sense.

Thanks to the wonders of technology, riders will race against one another on a virtual course whilst pedaling on a stationary bike. Teams of four, riding collectively for 80 minutes – each rider must ride for a minimum of 10 minutes – and changing riders/bikes is included in the overall time, so it’s a little bit like the French Le Mans event.

The public can also come and try out a stationary bike on the day – there’ll be special prizes for those who can pedal well on a power-watt bike – should be a lot of fun.
