Steam Train Return Trip to Whanganui for Vintage Weekend

Join Mainline Steam on this rail adventure to the Vintage Weekend in Whanganui to experience all the fun of this festival weekend.

Steam locomotive JB1236 will travel with us to Whanganui and return. Ride in our immaculately restored fleet of AO carriages with large viewing windows, air conditioning, heating and modern comfortable seating.

Relax in comfort and enjoy the views as we travel up the Kapiti Coast into the Manawatu and Whanganui regions.

Our buffet car will have food and drinks available. Please note that EFTPOS is not available on this train. All transactions are cash only.

Passenger pickup and drop offs at Paraparaumu, Otaki, Levin and Palmerston North.

We have secured a limited number of rooms at The Kingsgate Hotel in Whanganui for accommodation on Saturday night with a complimentary breakfast on Sunday morning or feel free to make your own arrangements.

We expect to arrive in Whanganui around midday Saturday and once in Whanganui we will be using the train to run short trips to East Town and Kai-iwi on Saturday afternoon and Sunday, tickets for these trips can be purchased separately.
