The towering, energetic installation work "Rock Drop" by Judy Millar has been visually tumbling through the Gallery’s South Atrium since 2017. Now, Millar opens her studio to a limited number of Members who can discover and hear about what she’s been working on since she completed this site-specific commission for Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki.
Judy Millar is one of Aotearoa’s most experimental and internationally recognised artists, with works held in all major national public collections. In 2005, she had a solo-exhibition at Auckland Art Gallery and in 2009 she represented New Zealand at the Venice Biennale with "Giraffe-Bottle-Gun". In 2019, the Swiss Kunstmuseum St.Gallen presented her first international survey show. Millar divides her time between Auckland and Berlin.
Millar’s Auckland studio is located in Henderson, the address will be shared with ticket holders via email. The studio visit includes a light morning tea. Rock Drop will be on display at Auckland Art Gallery until 15 September 2019.
