Every year the Amitabha Centre holds a summer retreat. This time away from our usual routines and activities gives us space to focus on developing our sense of inner peace through meditation. On the retreat, we engage in guided meditations and teachings with the intention of developing a deeper and more meaningful understanding and practice of Buddha's teachings.

The retreat is suitable for everyone: those who have already been practising Buddhist meditation for some time, as well as those who are newer to meditation and Buddhist practices. The retreat offers the chance to renew and strengthen our daily meditation practice, as well as to take peaceful hearts and minds back into the rush of everyday life. This forms a basis for a more lasting sense of meaning and happiness in our lives, which benefits not only ourselves, but our family, friends and others that we interact with too.

This retreat is a highlight of our year—and a great way to set ourselves up for whatever is heading our way in 2019. If you have the opportunity to take a little time out in January—mark the days in your calendar, and tell the world you will be off the radar for a short while!
