Pesticides, poison and positive change. How can we shift away from the heavy use of poisons? Join us at Lopdell House in Auckland for important discussions on the future of our country.

New Zealand’s heavy use of poisons is damaging our environment and putting wildlife and people at risk. We are ready to have a discussion on the positive changes necessary to bring about the shift away from poisons to an ecologically sound approach that takes the whole ecosystem into consideration.

We would like to invite you to join us for two days of listening, questioning and discussion on the topics of environmental poisons, sustainable conservation and kaitiakitanga (guardianship of the environment).

How can we best support and encourage wildlife sanctuaries, trapping, hunting, bushcraft, fur-recovery, eco-tourism, social enterprises and education all built around respecting the environment? If our country is to shift from the heavy use of poisons in conservation we must have something to shift to - that is where we want to focus our attention.

On Saturday, we will hear from a wide range of guest speakers who will share their knowledge and concerns surrounding environmental poisons, conservation, as well as their thoughts on how we can bring about positive change.

We will also hear from those working on the ground in the forests and their ambitious projects for nurturing these sacred places through embracing and encouraging kaitiakitanga in their communities and throughout Aotearoa. What exciting opportunities does the future hold? How can we work together for change?

On Sunday those who wish to actively collaborate on positive change through a variety of projects and initiatives including the Referendum to Ban Cruel and Inhumane Poisons and the Kaitiaki Network will gather for planning sessions.

It is our hope that this weekend will bring together a diverse group of people, to share knowledge, inspiration, networking and help to map a sound way forward, so that sustainable conservation projects become so abundant and well supported that there is no need for cruel and inhumane poisons. We look forward to seeing you there!

Kind Regards,
