Sariputta and Moggallāna were two of the Buddha’s leading disciples. They had been friends since childhood and as young men had set out on a spiritual quest together. After they met the Buddha they gained enlightenment and spent the rest of their lives wandering, meditating and teaching.
One of the features of their friendships was rejoicing in each others good qualities. Moggallāna would praise Sariputta’s wisdom while Sariputta would speak of Moggallāna’s clairvoyant abilities.
Achalamuni will the story of this two friends and draw out insights into how friendship is an important part of the Buddhist life.
