Are you an aspiring actor? Do you love to have fun and make people laugh? Develop your comedic and improvisational skills these holidays with industry professional Marlon Eraso Ortiz.

This workshop is designed for children who want to learn the art of comedy in a fun environment using the techniques of theatre improvisation. The inherent spontaneity in improvisational theatre makes it a course that reveals and develops creativity, enhances your communication skills and increases your imagination.

During the workshop you will explore an array of movement, thought and performance exercises. Physical exercises include rhythmic movement, energetic movement and body awareness.

Perception and expression exercises include observation, concentration, memory, sensory awareness, imitation and reflection. You will explore comic and dramatic elements including setting, plot, characterisation, sound and dialogue. Working exercises are divided into roles and group collaboration is encouraged.

Creative exercises also include dramatisation, improvisation as a playwriting tool, and comedic structures. At the end of the day what matters most is the experience of understanding the fun in learning and getting to know yourselves and others by sharing, not competing.

Ham or vegetarian lunchboxes ($10 per day) can be ordered when you pay for the course or pre-ordered each morning.

Teaching artist Marlon Eraso Ortiz is an actor, playwright and director with more than 12 years’ experience working in different aspects of drama and theatre education. He has a Bachelor in Performing Arts Education and worked extensively in physical theatre training, improvisation and theatre games for actors and non-actors.
