Te Pōwhiri Welcomes Tuia 250 Flotilla

A pōwhiri will be held to acknowledge the first encounters between iwi Ngāti Hei and the crew of the Endeavour. The flotilla will sail to Wharekaho and arrive on the north end of the beach, the crews and manuhiri will be then guided along the foreshore towards the southern end of Wharekaho below Wharetāewa Pā where the pōwhiri will take place.

Come out and hear the stories from local iwi to mark the anniversary:
- Friday Oct 18: 11.30am - Hikoi from Simpsons Campground along Wharekaho Beach, 1pm pōwhiri, 3pm - 5pm kai & entertainment
- Wharekaho Homestead
- Hosted by Ngāti Hei, presented by Mercury Bay 250 Trust
