Hip-Hop has evolved from street dancing into a highly loved, passionate, and popular dance style. The combination of street dance with Hip-Hop and pop music creates energetic, fun, and hard-hitting choreography. Each Hip-Hop teacher at Empire has their own style, flavor and interpretation of Hip-Hop, try one or try them all!
Ashley Medcalfe specialises in Hip Hop, and urban choreo. Ashley is a calm and nurturing teacher whose choreography is intricate both in movement and formation. Ashley predominately choreographs crew and competition routines for national and international competition hip hop teams. Ashley’s greatest achievement is having the ability to work as a professional dancer doing what she loves.
Ashley has been a trained dancer since she was 5 with a background in modern jazz, tap and hiphop, then branched out to specialise as hiphop dancer with triple8funk dance company, freshmans and IDCO. Ashley’s greatest strength as a teacher is intricate clean routines with a gentle approach to her students. Ashley’s favourite thing about being a teacher is the social aspect of working with young aspiring dancers who share the same passion as she does.
