Last time he was in town, Tomás Ford threw down an epic night of his Crap music rave party comedy dj gig! he's back! this time, he's bringing two shows in one night!
Early in the evening, check out his award-winning alternative cabaret show. It's The Essential Tomás Ford, a new greatest hits set built out of a career's worth of the kinda songs that were never gonna be hits. With a musical style that has been described as "Iggy Pop crooning Nick Cave songs while charging around the dancefloor of an 80s disco DJ'ed by David Lynch," come see why he's become an institution at Edinburgh Fringe and festivals around the world.
From a start in the nastiest house parties and dirtiest pub gigs you can imagine, Tomás has been on tour pretty much non-stop since he started, eventually finding himself the only electronic act allowed to play at a punk squat, a fixture for a decade on the Big Day Out’s Lilypad, an accidental comedy DJ sensation, a bonafide Malaysian viral smash, the synthpop king of desert Australia, practically boo-ed out of Prague, a minor Australian poet for a bit, banned from half the venues in Queenstown, toast of the London cabaret scene and eventually concreting himself into being a hometown institution back in remote Perth. This month he won Best Dance Music Release at Malaysia's VIMA Awards. Which gives you a bit of an idea of the kind of all-over-the-place semi-career he's had and the ten thousand stories he's got up his sleeve.
Once we've laughed our butts off at his feeble attempts to be a cool cabaret guy, he's gonna hit the decks for a midweek blowout edition of CRAP MUSIC RAVE PARTY. Request any song you want, and as long as it sucks enough, he'll play it. He's the worlds' most hyperactive DJ, spinning all the songs you love to hate. It's a hilarious show full of stupid comedy, bad lipsynchs, Look Sharp costumes and high energy dancefloor madness.
