The Fabulous Murray Brothers are New Zealand’s newest and most entertaining blues band. In 2018 their debut album - ‘Sing It Chap!’ - rose to number six on the NZ Album Charts and received excellent reviews on blues radio stations across the world including in the US, the UK and Holland.

They have appeared at festivals including Bay of Island Blues, Portobello Blues, Las Condes International jazz festival (Chile) and Fiji Jazz and Blues. They are currently the house band at Mt Smart Stadium, Auckland, where they have opened on numerous occasions for the iconic New Zealand Warriors.

On July 4th at the Capital Blues Club they will be playing two sets of original blues-infused rock and funk with songs penned by Warwick Murray and/or his brother Stafford. They will also be debuting songs from their second album ‘Smile’ which is set for release on Vinyl Countdown Records / Emerald Hill Studios later in 2019. They will also play the whole top ten album ‘Sing It Chap!’ (available on all streaming platforms).

The FMBs are highly original musical virtuosos with Stafford Murray (Auckland, originally Birmingham UK) playing some of the most electrifying guitar solos you will hear in NZ today. There has not been such a significant addition to the Australasian blues guitar scene since the rise of Billy TK Jr or Darren Watson. His brother, Warwick (Wellington, originally Birmingham UK), also plays a mean guitar, as well as a breathtaking harmonica.

He plays the banjo and is known as one of NZ’s top ukulele virtuosos (search the internet for his version of Voodoo Chile on ukulele for example). Warwick appears regularly on the radio performing his original compositions, travels to many countries to perform at festivals, and his Youtube channel has over 100,000 views. Both brothers have deep soulful voices reminiscent of Paul Rodgers and harmonise on most tracks.

The Murray Brothers would not be fabulous without their bandmates, Aaron ‘Funky Chief’ Nonoa (Hamilton/Wellington) and Mark Tom Tom Thomas (Taranaki). The former was well-known in the 1990s as part of the iconic NZ funk band Nonoa and Tom Tom Thomas was part of the successful originals band ‘Tetnus’. Together with Warwick they are former members of one of NZ’s best-loved party bands, Strange Brew, which toured the country in the 2000s clocking-up over 400 gigs.

Don’t miss this original, entertaining and virtuoso performance. Just fabulous!
