Buddhist philosophy's focus is understanding the nature of the mind and in doing so understand the nature of where our suffering comes from and how we have the ability to change this.

We all want happiness. All sentient beings want happiness and not suffering.

The Four Noble Truths are basic facts that outline a path for overcoming our problems. This is Buddha's first teaching, which provides the framework for all other Buddhist teachings.

The Tuesday night classes will be following this profound teaching to introduce what is known as the 'Mahayana Path', which is based on how to benefit all living beings, show how to have a happy life and change the state of suffering to one of happiness; to understand cyclic existence, destructive emotions that disturb our minds and why cultivating compassion and wisdom is essential.

The Four Noble Truths will be taught by Venerable Geshe Nyima Dorje, (affectionately known as Geshela).

Geshela resides in Christchurch, originally from Tibet, he has spent over twenty-five years studying and graduating from the worlds largest Tibetan Buddhist Monastery, Sera Jey Monastic University in India. You will experience the authentic style, methods and teachings as passed down by the great scholars and teachers of Indian and Tibet.

All classes are no charge, donations welcomed.
