The Great Auckland Duck Race 2019

The Great Auckland Duck Race brought to you by SC Johnson’s Duck brand is back and this time with even more excitement and activities for all the family!

The white-water rapids will be awash with some of the best-dressed ducks that glue-guns and imagination can create!

This quackingly fun community event has three fast-paced races: School race, Business race and Everybody race.

All schools can have a free duck to decorate and race, with ducks available to businesses to dress in their brand colours of whatever their imaginations can conjure for $200. Donald Trump ducks raced last year alongside a vampire, a biker, a cowboy riding bull and a prisoner so who knows what will race this year!

Everyone can buy a $5 ticket to race a little duck in the Everybody race where 5,000 little yellow ducks will be let loose at the same time to create an amazing scene of yellow bobbing tails.

Money raised will support Life Education and Harold the Giraffe’s visits to local schools teaching their health and well-being programme to an average of 30,000 children every year age 5-13 across Counties Manukau and local Rotary projects.

Murray Browne, President of Rotary Manurewa-Takanini, co-organiser, shares “This is the forth year we are holding this event and watching it grow and the good it gives back to our community is a great thing to see”.

Lincoln Jefferson from Life Education Trust Counties Manukau says that they are thrilled to be involved as “We love that so many of the children we visit in local schools come along with their families and friends and have fun with support from local businesses who are contributing to the success of their growing community”.

There will be lots of fun on-land activities too including a free photo-booth, bouncy castle, face-painting and basketball shooting game along with $2 games to play and win prizes. With live music and food and drink carts, they’ll be something for everyone.

All the fabulously decorated ducks can be voted for on the day and votes will be cast and counted as to which is the Best-Dressed School and Business duck. The winning ducks will be mounted on beautifully hand-made wooden plinths so they can be displayed for all to see.

First, second and third place winners of all the races will receive fantastic prizes including travel, restaurant, hotel and educational vouchers.
