Come and celebrate Mother's Day at The Great Blenheim Bake Off. Eat or compete, it's going to be loads of fun and entertaining.

Following the footsteps of 'The Great Kiwi Bake Off' Blenheim ends the St Clair's Half/Feast weekend with a lovely market on Mother's Day. There's a marvellous cake stall, a judging panel of local chefs, prizes for Star Bakers, a great line up of buskers (including talented children and a community choir), and creative kids craft making of chef's hats and gingerbread kids.

Bake your best and compete in one these categories: Divine Chocolate Challenge, Slice of Heaven, Creative Cake, Scone with a Twist, Savoury Bake, The Great Kiwi Creation - Pavlova, and Queen Victoria's Sponge. The Kids categories of cookies or cupcakes will be judged in three different age groups.

The flamboyant Sugarcraft category celebrating Mum's - She's the icing on the cake - will be sold by silent auction. It's free to compete and our panel of judges from Sweet Creations NZ, Shelley May Cakery and Pedro's Empanadas will try the first slice and Mike Cox our host will be allowed the crumbs!

Remaining baking will be sold at $3 a slice, and you're welcome to cast a vote in the People's Award too. Entries need to arrive at the market by 8.30am please and pre-registration is recommended. Check out our Facebook page for more details.

We have two more great competitions to enter for free too - 'guess the size of the giant pumpkin' and be in to win two tickets to the movie premiere of Elton John's biographical movie 'Rocket Man'.

This feel good family day is fundraising for a worthy local cause, the Creative Kids Trust which uses creatives arts to help children with differences shine.

Thanks BV Gourmet, Cinnamon House and Marlborough Farmers' Market for sponsoring the prizes.
