Research has shown that outstanding teachers are intentional, they do things on purpose. They are always thinking about what they are doing and how it will foster children's development and produce real and lasting learning (Epstein, 2007).

Children learn best by play and their play should be free. Teachers need to be thoughtful, playful, purposeful and to respond intentionally to children's learning.

During the course of this workshop, we will be exploring what it means to be an intentional teacher. We will be discussing planning, assessment for learning, documentation and how to authentically respond to children's learning with sensitivity and respect. We will also be exploring how to decide "what learning matters here" as well as how to engage more parent and whanau participation in their child's learning and assessment.

This is an extended more in-depth version of the previous workshop. Which allows participants to take a deeper look at the context of the learning in their setting as well taking a deeper look at the planning and documentation of their service.

It not necessary to have attended the previous workshop on this topic as it will all be covered in this workshop. This workshop will allow participants to dig a bit deeper into their practice and to apply the knowledge gained in a practical way.

This is a hands-on workshop so please bring along your the assessment and planning document that you are currently working on in your setting.

Morning Tea and Afternoon Tea are provided (please advise dietary requirements).

Group size is limited, claim your spot today - Previous workshops have sold out quickly!
