The Manawatu Family Retreat

Family Retreat.

An holistic and nourishing environment for rest, support, community building and play. Our special Family Retreat will run Jan 18-20th, 2019.

Gabe Brewdant, trained Montessori teacher, kids Jiu-Jitsu coach and lover of the outdoors is excited to lead a full 3-day programme for children ages 5-12*, from 9am on Friday through to the end of Sunday.

Kid-friendly workshops will be offered covering:
- Mindfulness (including yoga, qigong and meditation)
- Martial Arts (jiu-jitsu, a controlled form of wrestling)
- Universal Values (cultivating kindness and understanding through games, art and other activities)

Children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver who will participate in the "adult track." Kids will join adults for meal times so we can all eat together as a community. Adults (18*) do not need to be accompanied by a child to attend, you just need to be ready for some kid-levels of activity going on!

Adults workshops will include:
- Yoga (including gentle poses, and pranayama - breath exercises)
- Meditation
- Workshops (Journalling, medicine making and more)
- Or you can take a break to wander around the gardens and relax, knowing that your children are in good hands, its up to you!

Overnight Programme:
All families are encouraged to stay on-site for at least Friday and Saturday night using their own tents or caravan. You're welcome to stay on Thursday night as well at no additional cost. Having everyone on-site throughout the duration of the programme supports the development of a safe environment for greater learning and connection. If you cannot plan to stay overnight on Friday and Saturday, please give more info in your application.
